- Open the Draft address instructed by the in-house administrator in Chrome. The captured address in this manual is
http://localhost:3004/. On other PCs, use the server address. - To draw from scratch, click the top left ☰ File menu → Newwhen viewing an existing model, select Opening Drawing Files.
- When you open or create a drawing, the drawing tools are activated. If the tools are gray, first check if the drawing is ready.
Saving the editing results in Draft and reflecting them in the original Revit RVT are separate steps. Applying to RVT requires relevant add-ins and submission procedures. There is no legal review menu on the current screen.
Screen Layout and Navigation
First, familiarize yourself with the five areas
| Sections | Roles | Usage tips |
|---|---|---|
| Left explorer | Drive / Models / Sets | Drive is the storage, Models is the object tree, Sets is the unit of work. Newly created objects are also displayed in Models. |
| Top view tab | 3D · Floor plan · Elevation · Section | View the same drawing from different perspectives. This is not a document tab for opening multiple files (to view two drawings side by side, right-click in the explorer and select "Open Side by Side in New Window"). Use + to add a view, double-click the tab to rename it, and right-click the tab to "Reset to Standard Orientation" to revert to the original direction. |
| Central left tool dock | Drawing · Modification · Transformation · Measurement | Folded bundles can be expanded by hovering over the icon briefly or pressing and holding. The last used tool becomes the representative icon. |
| Right panel | Object information / Tools / Options | Use object properties, materials/quantities, and display options separately. |
| Bottom status bar | Tool guide · Lock · Snap · Numeric input | The click order and shortcuts required for the task are displayed. Numeric input is activated only after starting the corresponding task. |
Changing Viewpoints
| Manipulation | Action |
|---|---|
| Mouse wheel | Zoom in/out |
| Alt + Left Drag | Rotate viewpoint. Fixed 2D views have restricted rotation ranges. Right Alt (the Hangul/English key on a Korean keyboard) also rotates the same way. Some keyboards send an immediate signal when pressing the Hangul/English key, so dragging started within 2 seconds after pressing will rotate the view (the typing language will also change). |
| Alt + Right Drag | Move Screen |
| Top View list | Move to standard directions such as Iso, Top, Front |
| Right-click on the screen → Fit drawing to full view | Fit the drawing to the screen while keeping the current direction |
Dragging the boundaries on both sides of the screen changes panel width. Collapsing the panel using the arrows at the top ends provides a wider view of the model.
Opening and Importing Drawings
Start from the File menu
- ☰ → Open Drawing FileSelect a file from here or drag and drop the model file onto the screen.
- When the model is displayed ModelsExpand objects here ViewSelect the appropriate orientation here.

If a login prompt appears when opening or importing a file, first log in with your account. Available functions vary depending on your account status and permissions.
Checking the Size of DXF·PDF
Decide the working plane before importing, and after importing, check the known length with a tape measure. If the size is different, check the original drawing's units and import settings first. You can lock the base drawing for reference and create new shapes on top of it.
Opening GLZ with Revit Linked Information
GLZ exported from the latest Revit Exporter with properties included contains placement and parameter linkage information of supported families. Check in Tools → Component → Revit Parameters / Request. If an old GLZ indicates no information, export it anew from Revit. 16-1. Preparation and Supported Scope
Creating the First Drawing
From rectangle to solid
- ☰ → Select 'New'.If there are unsaved contents from other drawings, save them first.
- Select the Floor Plan tab, then in the drawing set turn on the Rectangle ▭ tool. Specify the first corner and move the cursor to the opposite side.Check the bottom length units.
- lower part length unit mConfirm. In the width and height input step
6,4Enter to create a 6m × 4m surface. - 3D Go back to the tab Select ExtrudeSpecify the created surface and at the height input step
0.2mEnter to create the board. - If you create another rectangle and add height, you can make walls or supports. Mistaken steps can be undone with the top ↶ or Ctrl+Z.
- When you finish the work Selection return to the tool and ☰ → Save Drawing (.glz)Execute it.
Basic Drawing Tools
| Tools | How to work |
|---|---|
| Line | Specify by connecting points. Creating a closed region will generate a surface. Open lines can be kept as construction lines. |
| Circle / Arc / Regular Polygon | For a circle, specify the center and radius; for an arc, specify both endpoints and bulge; for a regular polygon, enter the number of vertices like n6. |
| Wall | Make a wall along a line with thickness and height. Use inputs like t0.3 for thickness and h3 for height, and check the current length unit. |
| Offset / Line Offset | Copy the boundary or edges of a surface in parallel. Use distance input for precise spacing. |
| Trim / Extend | Trim the excess parts of the construction lines or extend them to the intersecting lines. Objects that are already surfaces may need to be converted to lines in 2D editing via right-click. |
Precision Input · Snap · Layer
First, set the working reference
| Input example | Meaning | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| 300mm or 0.3m | Exact length | Enter during the step that receives length |
| 6,4 | Rectangle width and height | Apply the current length unit |
| 45deg or 45° | Angle | Enter during steps for rotation or other angle input |
| 1.5 | Scale 1.5 times | Enter in the scale tool without units |
| [1200,0] | Absolute coordinates of the current work plane | Enter during steps that receive coordinates. If the unit is mm, enter 1200mm |
| <500,0> | Relative movement in the direction of the current work plane | Enter during steps that receive coordinates |
| [x,y,z] / <x,y,z> | World absolute / relative coordinates | When entering all three coordinates |
Use snaps like endpoint, midpoint, center, intersection, perpendicular, extension, and guide line. Temporarily turn off unnecessary snaps if they attach to unwanted points. Hidden objects are excluded from snap targets. Directional lock follows the arrow key guidance displayed on the tool status bar.
Top Layer Create a layer from the menu and set the current layer. Turning off visibility is different from locking. HiddenExcludes it from the screen, LockShows but prevents editing. Since locking individual objects and locking layers are separate, check which one remains.
Work Plane · Floor · Origin
Set the working height and draft using the floor plan or floor selection. The model's floor list can be used when original level information exists. Axis placementIs a tool for establishing a work reference, Right-click → Set drawing to originIs a command to correct the coordinates of the editable drawing. Do not confuse the two operations. Origin correction applies to the entire editable drawing, including hidden and locked objects, while keeping the original reference model.
5-1. What is Snap?
Snap is a function that helps the cursor accurately target a specific position on a shape when it gets close. Instead of roughly marking by eye, it uses references such as endpoints, midpoints of lines, intersections, etc. This can reduce the occurrence of small gaps between two lines even when zoomed in.
- On the bottom status bar, click the Snap ▲button.
- Click the types you need to turn on or off. Within the list, multiple items can be changed consecutively.
- Click outside the menu or close it with Esc, then move the cursor near the target in the drawing tool.
- After confirming that the snap marker and type display are in the desired position, finalize the point.
The colored dot on the button indicates the snap types that are turned on.It does not list all the types the cursor is currently snapped to. Settings are stored in the browser, so they may differ on another PC or browser. Turning off ‘All’ and turning on only the necessary types makes it easier to distinguish in complex drawings.
5-2. 11 Types of Snap — Position · Examples · Precautions
| Type / Marker | Where does it attach? | Usage examples and precautions |
|---|---|---|
| ● Endpoint Green · Solid circle | Both ends of a line segment or vertex of a shape. | Used when starting a new line from an existing wall corner or accurately connecting open lines. Zoom in if there are many points to verify the desired vertex. |
| ● Midpoint Purple-pink · Solid circle | The exact halfway position of a line segment. | Used when starting a partition from the middle of a wall side; not the center of the entire object Center of a single line segment |
| ● Intersection Yellow · Solid circle | The position where recognized lines or edges meet. | Use the intersection of two reference lines as a starting point for drawing. Even if lines overlap on the screen, they might not be considered intersecting if their actual heights or planes differ. |
| ● Center Pink · Solid circle | Center points of recognizable circular boundaries, etc. | Use to draw another circle at the circle's center or to align the center of circular elements. It does not mean the centroid of arbitrary objects or the center of a bounding box. Shapes that are not recognized as circular may not have any candidate points. |
| ● Perpendicular Orange · Dashed circle | The foot of the perpendicular dropped to a line from the current reference point. | Used when creating a perpendicular connecting line at a point to a wall line. It does not mean 'stand up.' It means 90° to the target line.A start point or reference point is required, and if the foot of the perpendicular is outside the segment, this candidate does not appear. |
| ● Extension Magenta · dashed circle | A virtual straight line extending an existing segment beyond its endpoint. | Draw a new line in the same direction beyond the wall end. First, try moving outward after brushing near that corner. The candidate range is limited, so it does not extend to an infinitely far position. Different from the tool that extends the original line itself. Extension toolDifferent from |
| ● Guide line Blue · dashed circle | On a prepared guide line or marked centerline. | Align a new wall or member with a common reference. The guide line itself must be visible and registered as a snap target. If the original model lacks centerline information, that reference cannot be used. |
| ○ Reference White · dashed circle | Reference relations such as axes extending from a fixed reference point. | Used to align with existing vertices in a space where there is no geometry. During the drawing, first snap to the desired point and then Fspecify the reference point. Press F again to release. Depending on the tool, F may have other functions, so check the guidance below first. |
| ● On edge Beige · dotted circle | Any position between the two ends of an existing segment. | Used when connecting a new line at a position that is not the end or middle of an existing line. It does not automatically ensure a 'point exactly 300mm away,' so enter distance conditions separately. |
| ● On surface Light blue · dotted circle | An interior position of a surface, not a corner. | Used when specifying points based on floor or wall surfaces. Even if this option is turned off, the tool itself can still accept points on surfaces. Turning off snap display is different from prohibiting surface selection. |
| ○ Grid Light gray · dotted circle | The grid position of the current work plane. Whether it applies depends on the tool's grid handling. | Used when arranging at consistent module spacing. Check the screen grid spacing first. The grid being visible and grid snap being on are separate things. If existing geometry does not match the grid, endpoint snap is used first. |
How to read markers: Solid circles indicate specific points like endpoints or midpoints, dashed circles indicate relationships like vertical or extension, and dotted circles indicate positions on edges, surfaces, or grids. If nearby candidates overlap, the distance to the cursor and priority by type both play a role. Do not confirm based only on color; check the display name and actual position as well.
5-3. Choosing Snaps According to Work
Below are examples of settings by task. These are not fixed program presets or recommended values for all files.
| Task to perform | Snap to use first | If confused, do it this way |
|---|---|---|
| Connect lines of the underdrawing to create a surface | Endpoint · intersection | Temporarily turn off grid, on-edge, and on-surface snaps, and zoom in to check broken endpoints. |
| Start partition in the center of the wall | Midpoint · endpoint | The wall line divided into several segments has a different midpoint for each segment. Check the reference line. |
| Connect perpendicular to the existing line | Vertical · Endpoint | First specify the starting point and move it near the target line. |
| Extend the existing direction outward | Extension · Endpoint | After touching the target edge once, move beyond the endpoint and check the extension reference line. |
| Align in places without shapes | Reference · Guide line | Use a reference point for a one-time reference, and use guide lines for a reference to be saved. |
| Roughly arrange at regular intervals | Grid | If exact positioning is important, check the value and object reference point at the end. |
5-4. What is a Layer? — Drawing Layers for Categorizing Objects
Layers classify editable objects by purpose, like walls, temporary structures, sketches, and annotations, for the purpose of grouping visibility or protecting edits. This is different from levels such as the 1st or 2nd floor of a building. Levels are working heights, layers are object classifications. The category and family tree of the original Revit model also follow a different system from user layers.
| Menu elements | Meaning / Operation | Points to note |
|---|---|---|
| Current layer name at the top | The layer into which the new general object being drawn will go. | Even if you rename an object while it is selected, the existing object's affiliation does not change. |
| Row left check | Turning it on displays that layer, and turning it off hides it. | This is not a function to delete data or objects. |
| 🔓 / 🔒 | Toggles the edit lock for the entire layer. | Locking is not hiding. Locked objects that are visible can be used as snapping references. |
| Click the layer name once | Set as the current layer. | Hidden or locked status is not automatically released. Check the status before redrawing. |
| Double-click user layer name | Edit the name. Confirm with Enter, cancel with Esc. | Default and annotation layers cannot be renamed. Double-clicking any part of the row other than the name selects that layer and closes the menu. |
| Name filter | Only layers containing the entered text are displayed in the list. | The filter itself does not hide the model. It is a function to narrow the list. |
| Top ☑ / ☐ | Show all / Hide all. | If a filter is entered Only layers matched by the filter Will change. |
| New layer name + Add | Enter a name and create it by clicking Add or pressing Enter. | The new layer immediately becomes the current layer. Empty or duplicate names cannot be used. |
| ✕ | Delete a user layer. | Objects in that layer are not deleted. Move to the default layerIt is provided. |
For example, at the top Wall (3/5)If you see this, it means the current layer is 'Wall' and 3 out of the 5 layers are visible. It does not mean there are 3 objects.
5-5. Steps to Create Layers and Categorize Objects
- Top Layer name ▾Open it.
- In the input field below Enter 'Planned Wall'And press [Enter]. Check if the top current layer changes to 'Planned Wall'. AddConfirm that the display check of the new layer is on and it is unlocked.
- Draw a wall or rectangle. A new general editing object without affiliation will take the current layer.
- Create other layers like 'Provisional' and draw objects there to separate by purpose.
- Toggle the display check to verify if the classification is correct and save with GLZ.What if you want to move an object already created?
- The current layer menu does not have a dedicated command to send selected objects to any other layer.
Automatic assignment: The default layer is the basic assignment for general objects, and annotation types such as dimensions are automatically assigned to 'Annotation.' If tools or imported paths have their own assignment information, follow that information, and check through object information and display toggle. When importing DXF or PDF underlays, the imported layers may be added to the list.
5-6. Differences Between Display · Lock · Isolation
| Status | Screen | Edit / Snap | Typical Usage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display + Unlock | Visible | Generally selectable and editable. Supported shapes are snap-able. | Planning object currently being created |
| Display + Lock | Visible | Excluded from editing target but maintains snap reference. | DXF underlay that should not move |
| Hidden | Not visible | Excluded from screen selection and snap target. | Temporarily organize classifications not needed for work |
| Layer Isolation | Only the layers that the selected objects belong to are visible | Other objects on the same layer are also visible. | Focus only on wall classifications |
| Object Isolation | Display centered on the selected object | Different from selecting the entire layer in terms of target range. | Check a single specific member |
The two locks are independent. Even if the layer lock is released, objects individually locked at the bottom 'Lock' remain locked. Conversely, even if individual locks are released, you cannot edit if the layer or ancestor is locked. Do not assume that being selected in the tree and visible means it is editable.
The two hides are also distinguished. Even if you turn the layer back on, objects hidden individually may remain hidden. If you click 'Show All' and they are still not visible, check the individual visibility status, object isolation, and sectioning together.
5-7. Finding Layers with Selected Objects and Controlling Them
After selecting the object to edit Right-click on the screen → Layeropens. You can control the layer of the selected object without searching for its name in the long list.
| Menu | Change results |
|---|---|
| Add selected object layer visibility | Turns on the layer the selected object belongs to. Other layers remain in their current state. |
| Remove selected object layer visibility | Turns off the layer the selected object belongs to. Other objects in the same layer are hidden together. |
| Show only selected object layer | Turns on only that layer and hides the rest. If objects from multiple layers are selected, those layers remain together. |
| Release layer isolation | Restores the layer visibility state from before isolation. Layers that were hidden from the start remain hidden. |
| Show all layers | Turns on all layer visibility. This command is different from 'Restore to pre-isolation state.' |
This command applies to objects with user layers. Editable objects This cannot be used if there are no user layers on elements of the original model.
5-8. Points to Note When Renaming · Deleting · Saving
- Rename: Double-click the user layer name to edit. The layer names of all associated objects will also change. Duplicate names are not allowed.
- Delete: If you delete with ✕, the object is moved to ‘Default’. Objects that were hidden before deletion may reappear depending on the display status of the default layer. Individual hides are maintained separately.
- Default·Annotation: Since this is the default layer used by the program, you cannot rename or delete it.
- GLZ Save: Layer list, current layer, display and lock status per layer, and object membership are saved and restored. Individual object locks are for the current work session and have a different scope than layer locks and saving.
- Undo: Do not assume that all layer management changes can be undone with Ctrl+Z. It is better to separately save the GLZ under a different name before major cleanup.
5-9. Practical Example — Drawing Planning Walls While Protecting Underlay
- Import the DXF and check the known lengths with a tape measure.
- For the underlay layer: Turn on display and lock it. In this state, the baseline is visible while preventing incorrect movement.
- Enter 'Planned Wall' Create a new layer and set it as the current layer. Check that display is on and lock is off.
- In Snap, Endpoint·Intersectionare turned on to create walls according to the underlay. If a center guideline is needed, add midpoint, and for right-angle connections, add vertical.
- After selecting the planning wall object, Show only selected object layercheck the construction result with
- Release layer isolationCompare it again with the underlay and then save the GLZ.
Object Selection and Editing
Check the selected object first
6-1. Expanding Tools into Two Rows
- Open a drawing or create a new one, then at the bottom of the left tool dock in the central screen. Two-Column Tools Press the button.
- Tools that were folded in bundles are expanded into two columns. Look from top to bottom, and within the same row, from left to right.
- Hover over an icon briefly to see the tool name and usage instructions. To return to one column, press the toggle button at the same location.
The image above shows the actual screen expanded to two columns. You can see the selection tool and 32 construction, editing, and measurement tools. The toggle button at the bottom of the dock only changes the screen layout and does not affect the model geometry. Some buttons are only activated after selecting the required object or switching to the 3D view.
| Bundle | Order as shown in two columns — left / right |
|---|---|
| Selection | Selection |
| Drawing & Face Editing | Rectangle / Line → Circle / Arc → Regular Polygon / Offset → Line Offset / Trim → Extend / Wall → Chamfer / Extrude → Follow |
| Transformation | Move / Rotate → Scale / Mirror → Object Hole |
| Object Operations | Union / Subtract → Intersect / Separate |
| References, Measurement & Annotation | Coordinate Placement / Tape Measure → Dimension / Angular Dimension → Circular / Arc Dimension / Text → Guide Line / Tag → Redline / Section |
6-2. Common Checks Before Editing
- Distinguish selection and shape editing: Moving or rotating an entire object and extruding a single face are different target units. Check selection color, and the name and properties on the right.
- Check for locks: Editing is restricted if any object, ancestor, or layer is locked. Hidden objects cannot be selected on the screen.
- Check units: Check the following length units and types of input fields. Length is
300mm, angle is45deg, scale is1.5. - After turning on the tool, start the operation: If the numeric input field is gray, first specify the starting point or the target to edit. The status bar at the bottom indicates the current step.
- Limitations of the original model: Not all imported meshes can be edited. Shapes not supported, such as multi-materials, may block switching to edit topology objects.
- Cancel: Ongoing actions can be canceled with Esc, and completed edits can be undone with Ctrl+Z. F, arrow keys, and Enter have different roles depending on the tool, so follow the current instructions.
01. Select — Choosing the Object to Edit
Sequence: Arrow at the top of the dock → click the object on the screen or select from the Models tree → check the information of the right object. When selecting multiple objects, you can add select with Shift+click in the move tool.
Box selection: Drag across the screen while in the selection state. Left→Right selects objects completely inside the box, Right→Left includes objects intersecting the box. Check the tree and highlights to ensure unintended objects are not included.
Example: Move only the partition or select multiple members to group them. The top view tab changes the viewpoint of the same drawing and is different from the object selection tool.
02. Rectangle ▭ — Create a surface with four sides
Sequence: Check the work plane or the face to draw → select the rectangle → click at the first corner → drag to the opposite corner → check the preview and release the mouse to confirm. At the stage of entering width and height 6,4enter as shown and press Enter to set the exact size.
Example: If the unit is meters, draw a 6×4 m floor face and then give it thickness by extrusion. If drawn on an existing face, that face may be divided, so the result may differ from drawing a new separate face.
03. Line ╱ — Connect lines to create a closed area
Sequence: Select a line → first point → specify the next points in order → return to the starting point or press Enter to close. Using endpoint or intersection snaps can reduce small gaps. At the step of receiving coordinates, absolute and relative coordinates can also be entered.
Example: Draw the outer contour of an L-shaped plane in order. A closed valid region becomes a face, and an open section is treated as construction lines. Esc cancels points or operations at the current stage, so check the status bar.
04. Circle ◯ — Specify center and radius
Sequence: Select a circle → click the center → drag outward to preview the radius → release or enter a value to confirm. The value entered is not diameter
Example: The cross-section of a column with a diameter of 600 mm is made with a radius of 300 mm. A circle drawn on an existing face can create boundaries that divide the face. When drawing at the same center, use the center snap.
05. Arc ⌒ — Specify endpoints and curvature
Sequence: Select the arc → first endpoint → second endpoint → move the cursor to inflate the arc → confirm with preview or by entering the radius. The straight line connecting the two endpoints is the chord, and direction lock is used to align the chord.
Example: Create the curve boundary. A radius smaller than the distance between the two endpoints is not valid, so check the results and input guidance. A single arc does not always form a surface.
06. Regular polygon ⬡ — Specify number of sides and radius
Sequence: Select regular polygon → if necessary n6Specify the number of vertices → specify the center → drag or enter the radius → confirm.
Example: Create a hexagonal cross-section and then extrude. The radius and side length are not the same, so check the required final dimensions. After changing the number of vertices, check the preview shape.
07. Offset ⧈ — Move the entire surface boundary in parallel
Sequence: Select offset → select the surface → drag inward or outward → confirm by entering the spacing or using the preview. This targets the edge of the surface, not a single line.
Example: Create an inner boundary at a certain distance from the outline. An inward offset can divide a surface. If the spacing is too large, narrow parts may disappear or split into multiple areas, so check the result.
08. Line offset ∥ — Make a parallel copy of a single side
Sequence: Select edge offset → select the edge of the surface → drag in the desired direction → 300mmEnter the distance like → confirm.
Example: Create a strip-shaped area from only one edge. Distinguish this from the offset that moves along the entire boundary. If the new line cuts through an existing face, the area may be divided.
09. Trim ✂ — Cut excess construction lines
Sequence: Prepare a construction line that intersects → select trim → click the line segment to remove. Cut the section using the intersection as the boundary.
Example: After drawing the wall outline, remove lines protruding outside the corners. The edges of objects that are already faces are not subject to construction line trimming. Supported planar faces can be handled by right-clicking in 2D Editand then converting them into lines before working.
10. Extend ⇥ — Extend to the intersecting line
Sequence: Select Extend → click the end of the construction line to extend → check the result until it meets the other line. Confirm which direction the clicked end extends.
Example: Connect a slightly short line to another boundary line. If there is no target to meet or the shape conditions do not match, it will not extend. Extend Snapis an auxiliary function for positioning, and this tool actually modifies the lines.
11. Wall ▤ — Apply thickness and height to a central path
Sequence: Check the unit of length → Select wall → t0.3Set thickness, h3Set height → Specify start point → Connect to the next point. When the unit is meters, this is an example of thickness 0.3m and height 3m for each.
Example: Draw continuous partition walls. Check corner connections and thickness direction. This object is in Draft form and does not provide all parametric wall properties and editing functions of Revit.
12. Chamfer ◢ / Round — Refine corners and edges
Sequence: Select the tool → Select a supported planar corner or solid edge → Move the cursor to check the size → Confirm by entering a value or clicking. Solid edges can be added with Shift+Click.
Example: Cut the sharp corners of the panel. Panel cornerYou can switch to a round with F. Do not assume that common fillets are supported on all 3D edges. If you enter a larger value than short edges, valid results may not occur.
13. Extrude — Push or pull a surface
Sequence: 3D view → select Extrude → grab a face and drag along the normal → enter height/distance or release to confirm. Make a single face into a 3D shape, and for supported 3D faces, increase or decrease the shape.
Example: Give the floor face a thickness of 200mm or raise the top of an existing block. Since dragging upward on the screen may not correspond to the model's upward direction, check the preview direction first. You can cancel the ongoing operation with Esc.
14. Sweep ⤳ — Generate a section along a path
Sequence: Prepare the cross-section to use → Select Follow → Click on the cross-section → Specify the path points in order → Confirm with Enter.
Example: Creates a shape where the same cross-section continues, like molding or railing. The path is drawn within the supported planar path range. Even cross-sections with holes are created up to the inner side walls, making hollow pipes or moldings. The path can also be drawn in 3D (see additional details below).
15. Move ✥ / Copy / Linear array
Move sequence: Select Move → Grab the object and drag → Check direction and distance → Place or input distance. You can select multiple objects with Shift+Click and move them together. Arrow keys ←/→/↑ are used to lock red/green/blue axes in the screen guide respectively.
Copy sequence: Hold Ctrl and drag to place a copy. After checking the original and the copy, before performing other operations, x5 Or /5you can enter this to create an array.
| Input | Example: original at 0m, first copy at 1m |
|---|---|
| x5 | Repeating at the same interval will create copies at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5m. Including the original, there are 6. |
| /5 | Divide the 0–1m range into 5 equal parts to create additional copies at 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8m. Including the ends, there are 6. |
Multiples range from 2 to 200, with a limit of 1,000 additional objects and an estimated 2 million vertices. Arrays do not overlap on the same copy result. Instead, typing x8 allows you to change the number of copies just created. Delete removes the selected object.
16. Rotate ⟳ / Circular array
Sequence: Select object → select rotation → if necessary, Ctrl+click to specify the rotation center → drag left/right or enter angle → confirm. Use ←/→/↑ to select the rotation axis and Shift for 15° snap.
Example: After specifying the center separately, rotate 45°, and immediately x8enter this to create an 8-position array around the same center and axis. /8This divides the previous rotation angle into 8 equal parts.
Unlike the move array, the circular array is entered immediately after rotation. The default rotation automatically keeps a copy in the original position, unlike move-copy. Placed components and families are also included in the circular array, and the number limit and vertex limit apply.
17. Scale ⤢ — Change size by scale factor
Sequence: Scale selection → grab the object and drag left or right → enter the scale or release to confirm. Rightwards is enlargement, and the size changes based on the center of the bottom of the selected object.
Example: 1.5is 1.5 times, 0.5is half. Do not attach length units like mm to the scale. Holding Shift snaps to 0.05 increments. Distinguish this from tools that modify only a specific direction dimension.
18. Mirror ⇋ — Create a copy based on a mirror line
Sequence: In the move tool, select the target → choose Symmetry → first point of the mirror line → second point → check the created opposite copy.
Example: Create a left-right symmetrical arrangement. A copy is created, not moving the original, so check the number of objects. The result varies depending on the mirror line position and the work plane.
19. Cut object hole ◎ — Use a cutter to remove the target
Sequence: Create a new solid of the hole size and place it overlapping the target → In the Move tool, select this solid as a cutter → Select 'Cut Object' → Click the target to carve → Check the result.
Example: Use a block that passes through the wall as a cutter to make a rectangular opening. If a through-hole is needed, the cutter must pass through the entire thickness of the target. If it does not overlap with the target or is an unsupported shape, the desired cutting will not occur.
20. Join objects ∪ — Combine shapes into one
Sequence: In the Move tool, select two or more valid objects with Shift+click → Merge → Check the result shape and object list.
Example: Combine overlapping blocks into a single solid. 'Group' is to manage each object together, while Merge is to perform operations on solids. Depending on the target shape, unconnected results may remain.
21. Subtract objects ⊖ — Remove other objects from the first
Sequence: First, select the object to keep → Add the object to carve with Shift+click → Subtract → Check if the intended part remains.
Example: If you select wall A first and opening block B second, the part of A that overlaps with B will be removed. If B is selected first, the opposite result occurs, so the selection order is important.
22. Intersect objects ∩ — Keep only overlapping parts
Sequence: Select two or more overlapping valid objects → Intersect → Check the common area.
Example: Obtain the area shared by the two blocks separately. If the objects do not actually overlap, there may be no remaining shape. What appears to overlap on the screen is different from what overlaps in 3D space.
23. Separate objects ◫ — Divide into pieces according to boundaries
Sequence: Select the supported objects → Separate Objects → Check the generated pieces in Models and select each one.
Example: Handle the pieces separated according to the overlapping boundaries individually. The result varies depending on the object’s connection state and input shapes. This command is different from 2D editing such as ungrouping or breaking planar faces into lines.
24. Set axis ⌖ — Determine a reference point for the work
Sequence: Select axis placement → Click the point to be used as a reference → Check the displayed reference. Clicking an empty area returns it to its original position.
Example: Construct based on a specific edge. This is a reference placement and is different from moving the entire drawing shape. Right-click → Set drawing to originRefer to CHAPTER 05 for the relationship between coordinates and the working plane.
25. Ruler ⟷ — Check the distance between two points
Sequence: Select the measuring tape → first point → second point → check the measured distance. Align the measurement points with endpoint/midpoint snaps and press Esc to delete the measurement marker.
Example: Check if the actual length of the imported drawing is 3m. To leave the result as a dimension on the drawing, use the following dimension tools.
26. Dimension ⊢⊣ — Record linear dimensions
Sequence: Select dimension → first point → second point → move the cursor to position the dimension line → click to confirm.
The default is aligned dimension connecting two points directly. X/Y/Z are axis component dimensions relative to the work plane, and A returns to aligned dimension. On an inclined line, the total length and the length in a specific axis direction differ, so select according to the purpose of the notation.
27. Angle Dimension ∠ — Indicating the angle between two directions
Sequence: Vertex → point on first side → point on second side → move the cursor to set the size and position of the arc → click to confirm.
Example: Record the angle between the slanted wall and the reference line. Check the order of points and the side where the arc is placed. This notation does not command the object to rotate to that angle.
28. Circular/Arc Dimension Ø — Diameter, radius, chamfer, arc length
Sequence: Select tool → specify circle/arc/chamfer boundary → move label position → click to confirm. The boundary must be recognizable.
φ is used for circles, R for fillet arcs, and C for chamfer lines. You can switch between radius and diameter with R/D, and indicate arc length with L for arcs. If the target is not recognized, select another boundary or check with basic measurement.
29. Text A — Writing explanation notes
Sequence: Select text → click the position to insert → enter content → press Enter to confirm. After combining Korean characters, press Enter to finalize.
Example: Leave notes like “maintain existing wall.” These are saved drawing annotations, and if instructions need to be communicated to the team, use redline work instructions.
30. Guide Line ┄ — Creating a stored construction reference
Sequence: Select the guide line → first point → second point. A straight line passing through the two points will remain as a dashed reference.
Example: Place multiple members on the same line. If guideline snap is enabled, it can be used as a reference and will be saved in GLZ. To remove it, select the guideline and press Delete.
31. Tag 🏷 — Indicating object information or area
Sequence: Select the tag → Click on the target object or edited surface visible on the screen → Verify the display.
The original object displays category and type information, while the edited surface displays area, etc. If the original has no attributes, the information that can be displayed is also limited. Tags do not create real or room objects. After changing the shape, right-click "Reload Tag" to align the text and position.
32. Redline ✎ — Marking for review and making requests
Sequence: Select the redline → Choose type → Click and drag according to the status bar guide → Draw the related mark, then press Enter or group in the list → Enter explanation instructions.
Numbers 1–6 correspond to line, arrow, rectangle, text, cloud, and highlighter, respectively. Instead of modifying the shape, they indicate where to review. If there is no login or model linkage, it is a local draft, so check the sharing status separately. The detailed workflow is in CHAPTER 11.
33. Section ◪ — Cutting to view the inside
Sequence: 3D view → select section → click surface or specify X/Y/Z reference direction → drag the manipulator plate to move its position, drag the ring to adjust the tilt.
F flips the direction, [ / ] moves steps. Can be canceled with Esc in the section tool, and the cutting state can remain even when switching to another tool. This feature only cuts the visible range and is different from actually deleting the original shape (object subtraction). Section filling is supported for editable objects.
6-3. Right-Click Popup Menu — All items and how to use them
Quick access items: Delete · Separate · Origin for drawings · Wall · Door · Window recognition · Add as 3D object · Lock underlay drawing · Layer · Additional menu
First select an object on the screen, then in the drawing area right-click and release in place. A menu to apply to the selected object will open. If you drag the right button, it will result in a different action than opening the menu, so click briefly. Check the number of selections and the reference object at the top of the menu. Do not judge the target of the operation based solely on the right-click position.
▸Items with a appear a submenu when you hover over or click. Currently unavailable items are shown in gray instead of omitted from the menuTherefore, the list differs when multiple outlines, plans, solids, or objects are selected. You can close it by clicking outside the menu or pressing Esc. Del and Z on the right are shortcuts, and symbols like ∪, ◫, and ⌖ indicate functions.
Basic Popup Items — Delete, Separate, View, Set, Lock
| Items | How to use and the results |
|---|---|
| Delete object · Del | Deletes the selected object. This is different from deselection. You can undo immediately after deletion with Ctrl+Z. |
| Separate object | Splits the target shape into separate objects along boundaries. Used to divide overlapping parts of multiple objects or splittable faces of a single object. Just because the menu is visible does not mean all outlines will immediately become solids. To create a face from a closed outline, use ‘Add as 3D Object’ below. |
| Fit drawing to screen · Z | Adjusts the view so the drawing fits the screen. Does not move object coordinates. Use this first if the drawing cannot be found. |
| Move drawing to origin | Move the entire drawing's coordinates near the origin in reality. This is used when the drawing is far away, like surveying coordinates. After execution, the option 'Return to original coordinates' may appear. This is not a command to move only a single selected object. |
| Add object to set | When you select an object and execute, a window similar to 'Add to set' in the sidebar opens. It is used for managing objects in purpose-specific sets. This does not perform operations that merge object shapes. For detailed set management CHAPTER 12Please refer to. |
| Lock / Unlock selected object | Works like the lock in the status bar. The name changes depending on the current selection and lock status. Locking prevents accidentally selecting or editing the object on the screen. |
| Deselect object | Deselects the current selection and highlight. It does not delete or hide the object. |
Recognizing walls, doors, and windows in the base drawing
Recognize as wall: Select the base drawing with wall lines → right-click → Recognize as wall → check the number of candidates → enter wall height (m) → check creation result. Parallel lines facing each other are read as the wall thickness. If there are no candidates, check if you selected the wall outline layer. The recognition and application process is subject to the Pro plan conditions.
Recognize doors and windows: First recognize the wall, then select the relevant base drawing and execute. Review and apply the candidates analyzed for door numbers, wall gaps, window symbols, etc. The window type, seal height, and opening height are estimates, and gaps in the wall may be passageways or entrances, so review the results. Unlike the order shown in the menu, the workflow is wall → door/window. Detailed procedure is CHAPTER 09Please refer to.
Add as 3D Object — Difference between the two submenus
| Submenu | Selection criteria |
|---|---|
| Outline only (ignores hatching) | Used when creating surfaces focused on the outer area rather than fine internal divisions. This method is good to try first on complex sketches. |
| Up to internal lines (for each area) | Creates a surface for each closed area divided by internal boundaries. Many small objects may be created. This method also generally excludes hatching patterns. |
- Select the sketch to be converted and right-click.
- Add as 3D objectChoose the desired method from
- Corner gap tolerance (mm)Enter the value. Default is 1 mm, and the input range is 0–100 mm. Points within this distance are treated as the same point.
- Check the generated surfaces. If there are no closed areas, surfaces will not be created. If small gaps are the cause, adjust the tolerance, but check that it does not connect different boundaries.
- If height is needed, Extrude (Push/Pull) Use this tool. Even if the menu name includes 3D, it does not automatically set the wall height.
Base Drawing (Quantity) — Locking the base drawing of the entire plan
Sketch (2)The number is not the number selected but the number of sketch objects on the drawing. This submenu targets the entire sketch on the drawing, regardless of selection.
- Lock all: Locks all unlocked sketches. Prevents accidentally selecting the background drawing when creating a new shape. Executing will also deselect the current selection.
- Unlock all: Unlocks locked sketches so they can be selected again.
- The number next to each command indicates the number of sketches whose status will change this time. If there are no applicable targets, the command will be skipped. In the example above, both sketches are unlocked, so only 'Lock All (2)' is visible.
Example workflow: Use in the order: Unlock All → Select the necessary sketches → Recognize/Convert → Lock All. When locking only one object, use 'Lock Selected Object' at the bottom of the popup.
Layer — Add display, hide, isolate
| Submenu | Effect on Screen |
|---|---|
| Add selected object layer visibility | Turns on the layer(s) containing the selected object. Display status of other layers remains unchanged. This is not a command to move objects to another layer. |
| Remove selected object layer visibility | Turns off the layer(s) containing the selected object. Other objects on the same layer are also hidden. This does not delete them. |
| Show only selected object layer | Hides all layers except the layer(s) containing the selected object. Different in scope from 'Isolate This Object', which keeps only one object visible. |
| Release layer isolation | Returns to the display state before layer isolation. Layers originally off are not all turned on. |
| Show all layers | Turns on all layers. Different from restoring the state before layer isolation. This does not release other hidden/isolation or sectioning states of individual objects. |
Layer commands are based on the drawing layer of the editable object. If the selected original reference element has no drawing layer, some commands may not appear. Layer settings are CHAPTER 05Please refer to.
Menus added depending on the selection target
| Items | Situations and usages that appear |
|---|---|
| Merge / Subtract / Intersect Objects | Appears when multiple operable objects are selected. Union combines them, Subtract removes other shapes from the base object, and Intersect leaves the overlapping part. Since Subtract results vary depending on the selection order, check the base object at the top of the menu. |
| Group / Ungroup | Used to handle multiple objects as a single bundle or to ungroup them. It is different from 'Combine Objects,' which merges the shapes themselves. |
| 2D Edit | Breaks editable planar objects into construction lines to modify points and edges. It does not appear on general 3D solids. |
| Separate faces into objects (number/all) | When one face among multiple faces is selected, it separates that face into an independent object. It does not appear for objects with only one face. |
| Isolate this object / Release isolation | Allows you to view only the selected object or exit isolation. Do not confuse with leaving the entire layer visible. |
| Restore to original coordinates | Restores to the original coordinates if there is a record of moving with 'Move drawing to origin.' |
| Convert underlay to lines | Converts a supported line-type underlay to editable construction lines when selected. It does not appear for all types of underlays. |
| Change opening size | Appears when a recognized door, window, or connected door/glass is selected. Pick a reference point and enter Width × Height (mm) to update the opening and wall hole. |
| Move to this redline view | Selecting a redline with viewpoint information returns to the view at the time the instruction was made. |
| Mark as processed / Reopen (undo processing) | Change the processing status of the red line. Shapes belonging to a work instruction will have their status changed together by instruction unit. |
6-4. Undo and Redo
Undo: Top ↶ or Ctrl+Z. Redo: ↷ or Ctrl+Y / Ctrl+Shift+Z. Major editing commands use the default 200-step history but do not include all UI settings. If an uncertain recovery message appears, check the result and save under a different name.
Each tool description was cross-checked with the current tool implementation and tooltip. The capture shows the selection state and two-column display, and does not imply that all types of shapes and input combinations were practically verified.
View, Display, Section
View the same drawing for the intended purpose.
3D is used for spatial relationships, while floor plans and elevations are used to check alignment and dimensions. The + in the View tab duplicates the current screen or restores the default view. View state is included when saving GLZ.
OptionsAdjust the display and screen environment for Solid, Wire, etc. If the model seems to disappear, check the layer display, isolation, section, and projection direction in order.
Section Practice — From checking the inside to releasing
Below is an actual screen sequentially manipulating an example of the same room shape. Compare which parts are visible and hidden based on the floor, walls, and the low block in the center. A section cuts to view the inside without deleting the object's original shape. Images can be enlarged by clicking.
1. Turn on the section tool in 3D view
- Open the drawing and move to the top 3D tab.
- In the left tool dock, press Section. It is the button highlighted in blue in the screen below.
- Just turning on the tool does not cut yet. In the next step, specify the cutting direction.
2. Set the cutting direction with X, Y, Z
With the section tool on, Xpress or click the button next to the tool. A cutting plane passing through the center of the model and a blue plate with a yellow ring will appear. The three screens below show the results of pressing X → Y → Z in order for comparison. In this program, X Y is the height direction, so Y cutting cuts horizontally. X and Z are vertical cuts in different directions.X-direction cut
Pressing the axis key again repositions the cutting plane based on the center of the model. You can also click the desired face to place it based on that face. Inside the yellow border is
3. Drag the blue panel to move the cutting position
inside the yellow border Translucent blue plateand drag the mouse up and down. The cut surface moves perpendicular to its own surface, changing the area where the inside is exposed. Holding the yellow ring rotates, so when moving only the position, hold the inside of the plate.
4. Move one step at a time with the [ · ] key
With the single-sided tool turned on Press [ Or ]to move one step in the opposite direction one step at a time. Below is the previous step [Once This is the result of pressing it. Since the grid in this example is 1m, it was moved by 1m. The movement interval depends on the current working grid spacing. If the key does not respond, remove focus from the letter/number input fields and try again.
5. Tilt the cutting plane with the yellow ring
Yellow Ring RimHold down and drag it up and down. The cut surface, which was originally vertical, will tilt as shown below. Hold down Shift Drag to set the angle at 15° intervals. To return to the default direction, press X·Y· Z again. At this point, the cutting position is also reset to the center of the model.
6. Press F to view the opposite side
Fleaves the position and tilt of the cut surface as is, and swaps the side to display and the side to crop and hide. Compared to the previous screen, you can see the opposite side of the same cut surface. Press F again to return to the original side.
7. Hide the handle and examine the interior
Top left Selection Arrow and other tools. The blue plate and yellow ring disappear, Cut state maintainedDone. Used to inspect the interior without being blocked by the handle. To readjust the position, turn the section tool on again.
8. Release the section and return to the full model
- If you are using another tool, turn the section tool on again.
- Press Esc once. The cut will be released and the entire model will reappear.
- To exit up to the section tool, press Esc one more time or switch to the selection tool.
Section fill is supported centered on the editing object. Not all cut surfaces of imported reference meshes are filled. Observation points are used to save and restore frequently checked viewpoints, and server connection conditions apply for sharing.

Creating a Model from a Sketch (2D -> 3D)
Proceed while checking the recognition results
9-1. First, Decide on the Work Path
There are two ways to create a model from a sketch. Closed region → face → extrusionThis is a method of directly creating the desired area as a 3D shape, such as floors or slabs, Wall recognition → Door/Window recognitionThis is a method of interpreting drawing symbols to create walls and openings. It is not necessary to execute both methods sequentially on every drawing.
| Objects to create | Commands to use | Sketches to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Floor·Slab·General 3D shape | Add as 3D object → Extrude | Closed-line shape |
| Wall | Recognize as wall | Pair of parallel lines indicating thickness |
| Door/Window | Recognize doors/windows after recognizing walls | Door opening arc, window symbol, or gap in wall |
The screenshot below is a DXF for explanationand shows the actual screen after importing and manipulating it. WALL is a 200mm thick wall line, DOOR is a 900mm wide door opening arc, FLOOR is a 6m × 2m closed rectangle. The wall line has a 1200mm gap identified as a window candidate. This practice result does not guarantee recognition accuracy for all professional drawings.
9-2. Import DXF — Check Units and Layers
- Import DXFand select the drawing file.
- For this practice, the import method is set as-is (sketch)It is not a setting where 3D walls are created immediately upon import.
- Drawing unitsAlign with the original. The example is in mm, and you can check it with the drawing size at the bottom, 6.00m × 3.20m. Also, make sure the units written in the original match the actual drawing units.
- Includes layers containing wall lines and door/window symbols. Since door symbols may be on a different layer, be careful to only import WALL and not miss DOOR.
- Separate unnecessary hatch, text, and dimension layers when importing. The example is Also import area fills (hatch fill)is turned off.
- ImportPress and check the known lengths in the floor plan using a tape measure. If the units are incorrect, adjust the import settings before recognition.
Color options: 'Correct for bright floor' is a display setting that reduces the disappearance of bright CAD lines on the screen. It is not an option to fix object sizes.
9-3. Unlock Sketch and Select Work Target
- Imported underlays may be locked. Right-click in the drawing → Underlay (count) → Unlock AllExecute it.
- Select the underlay to work on from the screen or the Models list. The above screen shows the FLOOR area selected to be turned into a surface.
- After confirming the selected boundary, open the right-click menu. Choose WALL in the wall recognition step, and DOOR in the door recognition step.
- When the work is finished Underlay → Lock AllTo lock the background drawing again so it is not accidentally moved.
Unselecting and unlocking are different. 'Deselect objects' only removes the highlight and does not unlock a locked underlay. The full popup explanation is CHAPTER 06.
9-4. Method A — Turn Closed Areas into Editable Surfaces
- Select FLOOR sketch → right-click → Add as 3D objectOpen it.
- Outline only (ignores hatching)creates a surface based on the outer area. If you need small areas for each inner boundary Up to internal lines (for each area)select it. Both methods exclude hatch patterns by default.
- Edge gap toleranceEnter in mm. The example used the default value 1The allowable range is 0–100mm.
- After confirming, check if the surfaces were created as shown below. 'Add as 3D Object' is the step to create surfaces and does not automatically set wall heights.
If no surfaces are created: Check if the boundary is closed, if there are intersecting or overlapping lines, and if the correct layer was selected. If tiny gaps are the cause, slightly increase the tolerance and try again, but verify that different areas did not wrongly merge.
9-5. Extrude the Created Surface to Give Thickness
- Top 3D Move to the view.
- Extrude (Push/Pull) Turn on the tool and drag the newly created surface in the height direction while holding it.
- After releasing the mouse, enter 0.3min the numerical input field and press Enter. The above screen shows a result with 300mm thickness.
- Check if the side surfaces were created and if the thickness was added in the intended direction. Since the original sketch and the created surfaces may overlap, distinguish the objects being edited.
The next wall recognition example is a separate workflow importing the same DXF again. This does not mean that you must extrude this plate and perform wall recognition afterward.
9-6. Method B — Recognize Walls and Set Height
- Select the wall line sketch WALLand right-click → Recognize as wallexecute
- Check the number and thickness of the walls found. In the example, 1 wall with a thickness of 200mmwas detected.
- Enter the wall height in metersThis example used 2.6You must enter the height for the actual project and should not consider the default value as the design value.
- After confirming, check the wall length, thickness, height, and direction in 3D. Compare with the sketch to ensure there are no overlapping or broken walls.
Reason for connected gaps: Wall recognition can connect gaps of 3m or less into a wall depending on conditions. In the example, the gap at the window location is first connected as a wall. During the subsequent door/window recognition, that space will be processed as an opening, so do not assume completion just by wall creation.
Permission Guide: Wall, door, and window recognition are classified as Pro features. Depending on the account and server plan, a Pro notification may appear.
9-7. Check Door and Window Candidates before Applying
- First, complete the wall recognition. If there is no wall, door and window recognition cannot proceed.
- With a door opening offer DOOR Select the sketch → Right-click → Text and window recognitionexecute
- Check the number in the candidate confirmation window. In the example 1 door · 1 window candidatewas detected. This window shows the number of candidates and precautions, and it is not a list for selecting individual candidates one by one.
- Apply candidatePressing it creates openings in the wall and places door and glass shapes. After the calculation is complete, check if the actual holes and panels have been created as shown on the screen below.
- If it has been misrecognized, undo it and check the sketch, layers, and candidate basis. Be careful not to blindly repeat the same command and generate duplicate results.
| Recognition cue | Points to interpret and check |
|---|---|
| Door open signal | The position, radius, and direction of the arc near the wall are used to estimate the position and width of the door. If the door symbol is only broken down into lines without arc information, it may not be possible to find it. |
| Wall gap · window symbol | Use gaps in connected walls, parallel line symbols, and window layers as window/opening candidates. Make sure that corridors or entrances are not mistaken for windows. |
| Seal · Height · Window Type | These are estimated values. Information not shown on the floor plan should be compared with actual evidence such as elevations and window schedules. |
If the selected underlay does not have doors or windows, there are cases where arcs are searched for throughout the entire underlay. If the door and window symbol layers were initially excluded during import, this correction will not work either.
9-8. Modify Opening Size and Reference Point
- Select the recognized window/door or the connected glass/door panel.
- Right-Click → Change opening sizeExecute it.
- Choose which of the 9 reference points to fix when changing the size. The screen shows upper left fixed state, and the size changes to the right and downward. Since the left and right are based on the wall direction, change the reference point if you want it to expand in the opposite direction.
- Enter width × height mm. In the example, it was changed to 1400 x 1200. Each value ranges from over 100mm to 100,000mm.
- After confirming, check whether the opening and wall hole have been updated together as shown below. When changing the height, the lower position may also change depending on the reference point, so make sure to check.
9-9. Compare Plan and 3D, and Save
- Floor plan: Compare the wall center and thickness, door hinges and width, and window locations with the base drawing. If an opening is higher than the floor, it may be obscured by the upper part of the wall, so do not judge whether it is open based only on the plan view.
- 3D / Section: Check wall holes, door panels and glass, seal height and top height, and penetration status. If the interior is obscured, CHAPTER 07 Section Practice.
- Preserve Originals: Lock the base drawing after work and manage it separately from the generated model.
- Save: Save as GLZ. For detailed saving and recovery procedures, CHAPTER 14Please refer to.
9-10. When Recognition Fails or Results Are Strange
| Symptoms | Inspection Sequence |
|---|---|
| No recognition menu on right-click | Unlock the base drawing → Confirm selection of the actual base drawing. Distinguish from selecting the generated 3D model or general surface. |
| Size is too large or small | Check DXF units and known dimensions. Wall thickness determination is also affected by units, so correct this first. |
| 0 faces | Check for closed boundaries, duplicate or broken lines, and gap tolerances. |
| 0 walls | Check line pairs parallel to the wall outline layer. Ensure dimension lines or hatch patterns are not mixed in. |
| Cannot find doors or windows | Check whether walls are generated → whether DOOR or window layers are included → whether arc or symbol information is maintained. |
| The number of candidates differs from the actual applied results | Check result messages such as locked walls, no walls to connect, or shape calculation failure. If only partially applied, check the current drawing, undo/modify, and retry. |
| Window generated in a passage | Compare wall gaps to the original design data to determine whether they are windows or passages. Treat candidates as not finalized design information. |
Materials · Components · Temporary Structures
Deals with expressions and repeated placement
10-1. Choose and Apply Materials
Right Tool → MaterialChoose a material here. This changes the display material in Draft. It is separate from the function that requests changing the material parameter of the original Revit family.
| Tabs·Buttons | How to use |
|---|---|
| Default materials | Materials such as concrete, steel, and wood that can be used in new drawings. Search by name and select a preview. |
| Drawing materials | Displays materials used in the current drawing and edited objects. The list varies by drawing. |
| Selected objects | Narrow down to only the materials used by the currently selected objects. Used to check the composition of objects with multiple materials. |
| Apply to selected objects | First, select the objects to apply, choose the material, and then click. You can also apply by double-clicking the material preview. |
| Eyedropper | Click the button and click the reference object on the screen to pick up the material. After picking up the material, check the target to apply it to and Apply to selected objectsPress. Escfinish with |
| Select all objects using this material | Find and select objects using the chosen material. Then add to a set or Current selection quantitycan be totaled. |
- Select the objects to apply. Check if the object itself, its parent object, or the layer is locked.
- Choose the desired material from the Material tab Apply to selected objectsPress . Locked objects are excluded from the selection target.
- Deselect to check the actual color and pattern. If applied incorrectly, Ctrl+Zrevert it.
- Save as GLZ and reopen to check if the material and texture are retained.
The current application can change multiple materials of the selected object into one material. Do not interpret this as a function to paint only a specific face. For edited shapes without texture coordinates, automatic coordinates are generated, so also check the direction and size of the pattern.
10-2. Drawing Families and Draft Components
Tools → Component → Drawing Familyshows grouped repeated elements based on the family and type information of the current model. The list displays the number in the drawing and the number additionally placed in Draft. This is not a window to directly edit the family definition file (RFA).
- Find the family or type name in the search bar and select an item from the list.
- Place (at the click location)by pressing or double-clicking the item.
- Click the desired location on the floor or face. The center of the placed instance will align with the designated point.
- Click continuously to place the same item repeatedly. When finished, EscPress.
- select the placed instance and adjust its position with move or rotate. If delivering the placement to Revit, check the linkage restrictions below.
| Purpose | Differences and possible operations |
|---|---|
| Utilizing shapes in Draft | Components can be placed and adjusted with move, rotate, and scale. Shape sharing itself does not automatically execute Revit family formulas or type changes. |
| Deliver new placement to Revit | In Help and Placement Status Support for Revit family placement requests Or Includes Revit placement requestsUse the items that appear. Only new placements of supported non-host families will be connected. |
| Revit dimension change requests | Select the object and Open Revit parameters / requestsPass changes in type or length of the selected object to GLZ. Follow the usage order of 16-3. |
Movement and horizontal rotation of new placements can be delivered, but changes in scale, mirror, or tilted placements will be rejected during Revit import. To resize, request it via the length parameter provided by the corresponding family. Resending movement of a placement already reflected in Revit with the same request is not supported. See details of new placement linkage
10-3. Disassemble and Edit as Independent Shapes
After selecting the placed component Press Explodeto make it an independent editable object with shape sharing released. You can then use shape tools such as extrusion, Boolean, or cutter. Locked placements are excluded from the explode target, and Ctrl+Zit can be restored.
exploded objects will not maintain the connection to the existing Revit family new placement request. If you intend to return it to a Revit family, before exploding check if it can be modified with parameter change request. Independent shape edits are not considered changes to the original RFA or all instances of the same type..
10-4. Input Dimensions and Place Temporary Structures
- Component's Toggle the display check to verify if the classification is correct and save with GLZ. In the tab, select one of the scaffolding, safety railing, temporary fence, or container.
- Enter the indicated dimensions and quantities. Check the input field range and error guidance.
- PlacementDetermine the location with Escand complete continuous placement with
- To edit the shape directly, disassemble the respective placement. If temporary structures with different dimensions are needed, change the values and place them again.
Temporary structures are shapes created in Draft, and Revit non-host family linkage information is not generated automatically. Placement results are used for planning and representation purposes and do not replace structural safety review.
Redline and Work Instructions
Leave the location to be modified along with the request.
- Adjust the location to review to an appropriate view. Turn on Redline ✎.
- Choose line, arrow, rectangle, text, cloud, or highlighter by selecting the top type or pressing a number key. Follow the status bar guidance to click or drag to mark.

12-1. basic_sample3 Simulation Example
Below is the actual simulation recorded by the user basic_sample3.glz. Sets such as foundation, frame, masonry, plastering, windows, exterior, interior finishing, and facilities are displayed according to the date. The schedule included in the video is for demonstration purposes and does not represent actual field performance or confirmed construction schedules.
Reduce the beginning part of the original 50.3-second video and lighten it to 2× speed, 640×462, 2 frames per second. The GIF is about 24.5 seconds and loops. Since this is the original video with viewpoint tracking enabled, the camera moves according to the progress of the work. The still image below is provided larger so that the text and details can be checked.
12-2. Creating Sets and Managing Members
groupedare lists of objects that have the same work or management purpose. This is different from combining object shapes or creating groups. For example, the foundation objects can be grouped into a 'Foundation Work' set, and windows and doors into a 'Windows & Glass Work' set to assign schedules.
- Select the target objects in the Models tree or model screen. Check the number and range of selected items.
- Left + Or Set Menu → Create/Add SetExecute it.
- If it is a new set, enter a name; if adding to an existing set, select the target set.
- Sets Expand the set in the tab to check its members. Next to the set ✎is used to edit the members of that set.
- Before assigning dates by process, check that there are no missing objects or objects duplicated across multiple processes.
Automatic Set Configuration: This is a method to configure sets using attributes such as the model's level or category. First, check the preview to see if the classification matches the project. If the attribute is missing or different, it may be classified as 'Other' or the expected configuration may not appear.
12-3. Set Schedule and Input Exceptions per Object
The screen below is made with six objects for explanation (1st and 2nd floor slabs, structural walls, windows) in a separate practice drawing. The existing schedule of basic_sample3 was not changed. These are the before-and-after results after entering dates and redistributing them in the actual editing window.
① Enter the base period at the top 'Set Schedule'
- Set Menu → Edit Set Dataopens.
- Enter the target set in the top 'Set Schedule' table. dates entered in the set,In the example, for both sets 2026-10-01 ~ 2026-10-31
- confirm the entered value and move to another cell. Date changes will be applied, and depending on login and connection status, server save will also be scheduled. The right Save button is a server save function, so distinguish between local application and successful server save.
- General members do not need to fill in all dates for the objects below. If individual dates are empty, they are simulated based on the set schedule. Simulation applies.
② Specify exceptions only for certain objects in the table below.
- Find the object to modify in the member table below. For example, 1st floor
- row on the right ✎Press to switch to edit mode. The button ✓changes, allowing you to edit the code, task name, and date fields.
- Enter the planned start for that object 2026-10-10and the planned completion 2026-10-14.
- Confirm the values and ✓finish row editing. Other objects without entered dates will continue to use the set schedule.
- Check in the simulation whether only the specified object is represented for the designated period. The top set period in the example remains October 1–31.
| Input fields | meaning and method of verification |
|---|---|
| Code | This is the code for object identification and management. It is not a field for directly specifying the order of date allocation. |
| Task Name | This is the description of the work for the object. Enter the management name according to each process. |
| dates entered in the set, | Exception schedule for each object. If entered, it takes precedence over the higher-level set dates. |
| Cancel exception schedule | Press ✎ and clear both the start and completion dates of the object to confirm. Leaving only one may result in it being processed as a one-day schedule based on the remaining date, so check both fields. |
| Changed the set date, but the objects remain the same | First, check if there are individual dates. Exception schedules do not automatically disappear just by changing the set period. |
Dates and sequential display: If there are dates for each object, those dates take priority. If there are no individual dates and 'sequential' is turned on, the display points are divided based on work type and height within the set period. If 'sequential' is off, all members of the set are expressed for the same period. Conflicting alerts may appear for incorrect date ranges or different set schedules for the same object.
12-3-1. Redistribute Set Duration — Recalculate Existing Object Dates
Redistribute set periodIt is not an option to make the dates look nice, but a command to newly record the planned dates for each object.Exceptions like the October 10-14 schedule for the first-floor slab previously entered will also be overwritten. If you need to keep exception schedules, do not execute full redistribution, or distribute only the necessary sets and then reassign the exceptions.
| Command location | Target range |
|---|---|
| Set schedule row → Automatic time allocation | Distributes only one member of the set. |
| Set menu → Redistribute set period | Distributes the entire set for which both planned start and planned completion are entered. |
| Simulation bottom → Sequential | Calculation method for display purposes. It is not a function to uniformly record individual object dates like the two commands above. |
- First, modify the start and completion dates of the set. Before allocation, Save Data Filesaving the current configuration makes it easier to compare with the original schedule.
- To change only one set, that row's Automatic Time AllocationTo change the entire set, close the window and in the set menu Redistribute set period.
- check the target set in the confirmation window and overwrite individual planned dates according to the instructions. If you cancel, it will not be applied.
- Press confirm to apply, then reopen Set Data Editto check the dates for each object.
- Re-enter any necessary exception schedules and check the sequence using a simulation.
Example result: The set period remains from October 1 to 31, and the first-floor slab changed from October 10–14 → October 1–13The remaining members also have dates filled in. Based on work type priorities and heights, the start times are distributed, and some periods overlap. This is arbitrary allocation for simulation testingand is not an actual schedule reviewing workload, manpower, or sequential dependencies.
When allocation is not possible: Check for missing start/completion dates, ranges where completion is earlier than start, and overlapping objects in multiple sets. In particular, full allocation may require reorganizing objects if the same object exists in multiple target sets.
12-3-2. Auto Set Configuration — Create Sets Based on Properties
- Open the drawing and select Set Menu → Auto Set Configuration.
- Grouping criteriaand check the set names, number of sets, and number of objects for each set in the preview.
- To only create set classifications, Automatic allocation of construction periodturn it off. In the above example, in this state, clicking ‘Create Set’ composed four objects for structural work and two objects for window/glass work.
- If an automatic schedule is needed, enter the construction period according to the instructions below.
- Delete the existing set and reconfigure Confirm the presence or absence Make a setand press . Close/Cancel only closes the preview.
- On the Sets tab, expand to check the actual results and organize misclassified objects.
| Grouping criteria | Purpose of use |
|---|---|
| Standard construction types (11 stages of construction sequence) | Composition by type such as foundation, structure, windows, finishes, etc. Only the types that have corresponding objects in the model are created, so it does not always result in 11 sets. |
| Standard process × level | Divide the same type by floor. In the example, structure and windows are divided into 1st and 2nd floors, so 4 sets are previewed. |
| Level (floor) | Used when managing by floor. Level properties are prioritized, and some missing values are supplemented by shape height. |
| Category (walls, doors, floors…) | Manage by object type. The example has 3 groups: Floors, Walls, Windows. |
| Level × Category | Distinguishes both floor and object type. |
Automatic allocation of construction period
If checked Construction start/completion entry fields appear. The screen example shows 2026-10-01~2026-12-31. The completion date must be later than the start date. When creating sets, the total period is divided according to the construction sequence, height, number of objects, and weights, and the dates for each object are also filled in. Periods can overlap between construction types. The schedule from October to December on this screen is an example setting and was canceled after capture.Done.
Delete the existing set and reconfigure
If turned off, Merge members into existing sets with the same name and create sets for names that do not exist. If turned on, After removing the existing set configuration except for the default built-in set, configure a new set. This is not an option to delete the model shape, but the management of existing set names, configurations, and schedules may change. If there is a configuration you want to keep, first save it as a data file.
Caution: If you change the group criteria while keeping the existing sets, the same object may be included in multiple sets. If there are schedule conflicts during automatic allocation or simulation, check the object membership and individual schedules. After creation, verify whether the automatic classification matches the design intent and whether there are any 'Miscellaneous' or objects with undecided levels.
12-4. Open Simulation and Control Panel
After preparing the model and planned dates select Set menu → SimulationThe following controls will appear at the bottom of the screen. If the recorded dates are invalid or there are no schedule targets, check the schedule data first.
| Controls | How to use |
|---|---|
| ▶ / ❚❚ | Automatic playback and pause. Currently implemented to advance schedule dates by one day every approximately 0.22 seconds. Editing GIFs at 2x speed is independent of the app's speed settings. |
| Date Slider | The left side is the start, the right side is the last date. Dragging it stops automatic playback and moves to that date. |
| Date Display | The current manufacturing date being checked. This is not the playback time of the video or today’s date on the computer. |
| Sequential | Displays objects sequentially within the set period. Objects with individual dates prioritize their schedule, so they are not all distributed in the same way. |
| viewpoint tracking | The camera automatically moves to view the ongoing process. Turn it off if you want to compare before and after from a fixed viewpoint. If there is a viewpoint specified in the set, it will be used first. |
| Completed · In Progress · Not Started | This is an aggregation according to the current date. Since aggregation is done per rendering mesh, it may not match the number of sets or BIM objects. |
| ✕ | End the simulation and restore the temporary display material to the original. This button does not delete the model or schedule data. |
12-5. basic_sample3 Playback Order and Screen Reading
- basic_sample3.glzOpen and check the list and schedule by category in Sets.
- Turn on the simulation and move the slider to the left.
- Turn on Sequential. To compare from a fixed viewpoint, turn off viewpoint tracking; to follow the process position, turn it on.
- Press ▶ and check the date along with the numbers for completed · in progress · not started.
- To stop at a specific process, press ❚❚ or move the date slider.
- Press ▶ again at the end to play from the beginning. When finished, press ✕ or end the simulation from the menu.
Display Interpretation: Not Started is shown semi-transparent, while In Progress and Completed are displayed with the original material. In Progress is not necessarily highlighted in orange. Since the start and completion dates are counted as In Progress, the number of In Progress items may remain on the last day. Do not misunderstand this as a playback error.
12-6. Data Storage·Export and Check Items
- Save / Open Data File: This menu stores the set configuration and schedule data and reloads them. It is distinguished from the model shape file and checks whether the objects of the same model are correctly connected.
- Export CSV / Excel: Used when reviewing or delivering data such as code, work name, and schedule in a table format.
- Save model: Check the save status after editing the model and set/schedule. Team sharing and server saving depend on login/connection conditions.
- Screen is entirely blurred: Check whether the current date is too early or if the schedule is not linked to the object.
- Unexpected order: Check individual object schedules, duplicate set memberships, category, and height information. Automatic order does not guarantee actual construction method.
Quantity Aggregation and Excel
Check the aggregation range and unmeasured items.
13-1. Defining Aggregation Range and Classification
- Right Tools → Quantity AggregationSelect the range.
- Unclassified, Material, Category, Family, Type Select attributes from models, etc. Directly entered edited object attributes can also be used for classification.
- AggregatePress. If you changed objects or selection/set/classification conditions, aggregate again.
| Range | Inclusion target | Read results |
|---|---|---|
| Entire model | Measurable elements among original model and Draft edited objects | This is not an option to count only what is visible on the screen. Do not restrict aggregation targets only by hiding or isolating; select the required objects or designate them as a set. |
| Currently selected | Currently selected source elements and edited objects | Select the object first. Even if you select a parent and its sub-shapes together, organize them so that the same range is not counted twice. |
| By set | Measurable elements belonging to each set | If one object belongs to multiple sets, it is included in each set. Do not use the set-wise total as the model's non-duplicate total quantity. |
Lines, dimensions, text, guide lines, annotations, etc. are excluded from quantity elements. Elements with empty classification attributes (No value)are grouped as such, so check the original attributes or the input values of the edited object. Material Classification groups elements based on their representative material; it is not intended to split composite objects into pure volumes by material.
13-2. Reading Surface Area·Measured Volume·Unmeasured
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Quantity | The number of elements included in the classification. This is not the number of internal triangles or rendering fragments. |
| Surface area m² | Surface area of the mesh shape. It does not mean architectural floor area, painted net area, or legal area. |
| Measured volume m³ | The total volume measurable as a closed mesh. It reflects the current shape transformations such as movement and scaling. |
| Volume not measured | The number of elements whose volume could not be determined due to open meshes, etc. This does not confirm the volume of those elements as 0. |
For example, if 2 out of 10 elements have unmeasured volumes, the total measured volume includes only the remaining measurable elements. The overlapping objects' duplicate volumes are not automatically deducted, nor is any order surcharge applied. Before using for contracts or orders, check the scope, duplication, and original shapes.
13-3. Export to Excel and Detailed Check
- Set the desired range and classification and check the results.
- XLSXPress . Re-aggregate with the current conditions just before output.
- If an account guidance appears, check the necessary permissions. Currently, exporting from Excel requires Team level or higher permissions.
- Open the downloaded DrawingName.Quantity.xlsxand check the following two sheets.
| Sheet | Included content |
|---|---|
| Quantity table | File name, range, classification, creation time, number per classification, surface area, measured volume, unmeasured quantity, total, and set duplication guidance |
| Element details | Classification, name, ID, Category, Family, Type, surface area, volume, set ID. Volumes that cannot be measured are Not measuredrecorded as . |
Measured values are stored in numeric cells that can be totaled in Excel. If a notice appears during permission check that drawings, selections, or conditions have changed, export again from the latest state. If a Revit parameter request is pending, the Draft geometry is in pre-change state. After processing in Revit, open the new GLZand recalculate quantities.
Save·Restore·Share
Finally, check the saved results
- ☰ → Save Drawing (.glz).
- Enter the file name. If connected to the file server, confirm the save location.
- If encryption is required, enter the password and confirmation value. If not required, leave blank.
- SavePress , and confirm that local download or server save is completed.
- For important changes, reopen the saved GLZ to check the shape, layer, annotations, and viewpoint.
Encryption uses AES-256, and forgotten passwords cannot be recovered. Unsaved/recovery display and 'Recoverable drawings N pieces' are at the top right. Login (My Account) ▾ menu is at the very top.'Recoverable drawings' can be pressed to restore or delete even without logging in. Having an automatic recovery copy and saving a GLZ file with a specified name are different.
Automatic recovery copies are a safety net for when a tab is closed or the browser crashes. Minor corrections can be undone with Ctrl+Z, so if there are 20 changes since the last save/recovery copy or, if 10 minutes have passed since the last change a recovery copy is created. Viewpoint changes like rotation or zoom and object selection are not counted as changes. A recovery copy is made only when mouse/keyboard input has paused for 2.5 seconds, so the screen does not freeze during work. If changes occur when switching to another tab, a recovery copy is made immediately. One recovery copy per tab is kept, up to a maximum of 10 for the entire browser. When saved, the recovery copy for that tab is deleted.
The 'Recoverable drawings' list only shows recovery copies for the currently open drawing. If you are editing drawing A in Tab 1 and drawing B in Tab 2, Tab 1 will only show A's recovery copy. If no drawing is open or a new drawing without a name is open, it shows recovery copies of all drawings (so you can choose after the browser crashes and restarts). Recovery copies of drawings currently being edited in other tabs never appear, and they appear about 1 minute after that tab is closed or crashes.
Share Link
☰ → Issue Share LinkShares a snapshot of the current point in time. Even if the original is changed later, the content of the existing link does not automatically update. In the current code, a Pro or higher account is required, and new links expire after 30 days. You can copy, check Viewer, or revoke from the issuance window.
File Version·Conflicts
If a notification appears that the server file has changed, first save your own edited version and then check the server file. If overwriting is denied, save with a different name or download the backup indicated in the conflict notice. JSON backups of sets are recovery materials and are not in the same format as GLZ drawing files.
Save GLZ to Transfer to Revit
When sending new family placement and parameter requests Include the original model and Draft edit data, leaving the password empty and save. Currently, Revit Importer cannot read encrypted GLZ. Draft's Save Change Requestis the step of creating a waiting list, and it must be saved as this GLZ file to be delivered. See details on modifying, canceling requests, and saving
Login·Team·Storage
Expand from personal work to collaboration
- Top right Login ▾ → Loginto access with your account.
- After checking your account and subscription conditions Choose Glazir file server or Google Drive connection.
- On the file server, enter the server address and login information provided by the administrator. Since localhost refers to the current PC, a server address is required on other PCs.
- In team collaboration, create a team or join via an invitation code and connect to the team-based server.
- Make sure you are working within the same file and team scope, and check the save and synchronization status.
Server connections or team creation depend on admin settings and account permissions. This manual does not perform actual account/team creation or use of external servers. The image above shows the screen before authentication and is not an example of a successful connection. There is an FTP/SFTP connection code, but it is not displayed in the current login menu, so it is not guided for general users.
Revit Family·Parameter Linkage
Deliver new batch and dimension change requests using GLZ files and receive the results back.
Without the Revit Addin server Work with GLZ file round trips. If you import requests created in Draft into the same Revit project, Revit will calculate the formulas and constraints of the original families. Export the applied results back to GLZ to check them in Draft.
Export the RVT to GLZ using the modified Exporter.
Create a new batch or length change request in Draft and save it as a GLZ.
In Revit, after approval and recalculation, receive the results back as a new GLZ.
in the parameter window. Save Change RequestCreates an application pending request. The original shape, dimensions, and quantities on the screen are updated only after opening the new GLZ calculated in Revit. This is a file round-trip method and does not involve automatic server transfer or real-time synchronization.
16-1. Preparation Before Start and Support Scope
- Install the corrected Exporter/Importer Addin corresponding to the Revit version you are using and restart Revit.
- In the original Revit project, Run Windsoft → Export Draftto create a new GLZ including family properties.
- Open the GLZ in Draft and check Tools → Components. If there is no linked information in the old GLZ, export again with the latest Exporter.
- When transferring, use a password-free GLZ that includes both the original model and Draft edit data.It must be imported from the same original Revit project.
| Work | Currently supported |
|---|---|
| New family placement | Non-host family placed as points on one level. The original must not belong to a group or be mirrored, and linked information is required. |
| Changing the length of existing/new objects | Editable length parameters provided by the family. Entered in mm, distinguish between type or individual instance range. |
| Values calculated by formulas | Displayed as read-only. If you change modifiable input values such as width, Revit calculates dependent formulas. |
| Door/Window | Length requests supported for existing objects are subject to host checks. The host new placement function for placing new doors/windows on walls is not included in this path. |
| Out of the scope of this path | Edit RFA definitions, automatically create new types, change angle, material, text, integer, yes/no parameters, reflect movement/rotation of existing Revit objects, automatically convert Draft mesh scale to Revit dimensions |
16-2. Placing New Non-Host Family
- Tools → Component → Drawing FamilySelect the desired item from Support for Revit family placement requests Check the display in the item help
- Place (at the click location)Press to specify the location. After continuous placement Escfinish with
- Move or rotate the new placement horizontally. Do not use scale, mirror, or tilt
- To also change the length of the new placement, select that single object In Revit parameters / Request → Instance — Single selected objectEnter it
- Save as an unencrypted GLZ including the original and Draft data. Create a new placement in Revit, then process the individual parameter requests for that placement
Older models without temporary structures or linked information only support Draft shape placement Press ExplodeDoing this will disconnect the original family placement request. Importing the same content of a new placement already applied will not create duplicates, but moving and resending the same placement is not a command to modify the existing Revit placement
Hiding a new placement will exclude it from the import target. If the placement's parameter requests remain while hidden or deleted, GLZ saving is blocked, so Restore the placement or cancel the corresponding requestDo so
16-3. Dimension Requests for Entire Type and Individual Objects
Familyis the object type Typeis the same specification Instanceis an individual object placed on the drawing. For example, A1, A2, and A3 placed in the same type A will all be affected if the type width changes. If only A1, which has individual height parameters, is converted to an instance, the individual values of A2 and A3 will be maintained.
| Scope of Change | Input Target | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Type — All A1, A2, A3 of the same type | Length defined in the type | The entire same type in the Revit project, including placements not currently visible in GLZ. It does not automatically duplicate new types. |
| Instance — Single selected object | Length defined for the individual object | One selected existing object or linked new placement. Width and height defined only in the type cannot be modified in this scope. |
- Select one family object on the drawing to change. To use the individual scope, the target must be specified as a single object.
- Check in Tools → Component → Revit Parameters / Request.Press . Confirm the family and type name.
- At the top Type Or InstanceChoose . If there is no instance item, close the window and re-open it after selecting a single target object on the drawing.
- Editable width, height, depth, etc. mm. Read-only Displayed values cannot be directly modified. For example, change the sofa width from 2,438.4 to 2,558.4.
- Save Change RequestPress and check the target, scope, and before/after values in the waiting list below.
- You must complete saving the GLZ file before it can be transferred to Revit. In the window Closedoes not save the file for you.
16-4. Modifying·Cancelling Pending Requests and Saving GLZ
Pending requests to be saved to GLZNot only the selected objects but also the list of requests collected in the drawing. If you save again for the same target and scope, it will replace the pending request with the new value. Saving back to the original value will remove that request.
- Cancel request: Removes requests that are not yet transmitted from the list.
- Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y: Reverts or re-executes requests created or canceled in Draft.
- Save including the original without a password: Transmits the identification information and coordinates of the original model along with the placement and parameter requests from Draft. Files exporting only edited objects or encrypted GLZ cannot be used in this Revit round-trip procedure.
: Canceling or undoing requests in Draft does not restore the already reflected RVT. Export the latest RVT back to GLZ to receive the current values, then create a new change request. This method also handles normal height restoration.
16-5. Reviewing and Applying in Revit
- Open the same Revit project from which the GLZ was exported. If the original elements, types, or levels were changed, recreate the requests from the latest GLZ.Run Windsoft → Import into Draft
- and select the GLZ that contains the requests. In the confirmation window
- in the confirmation window Show detailed informationExpand. Check the number of new placements, the values of parameters before and after changes, and the number of effects on the same type across the project.
- If the information is correct, Yespress. If not, Nocancel and modify the Draft request.
- In the result window, read the number of applied, skipped, and failed items and the reasons. Check the model’s placement positions, dimensions, and formula calculation results, and save the RVT.
For the above sample, the 9 applied itemsare the result of combining 3 new placements and 6 parameter requests. One request can include multiple fields, so do not confuse the numbers with the count of changed objects or parameters.
Inspect the original document, type, and pre-change values for each request. Already applied identical requests are skipped if the current values match. The content of a processed request cannot be modified and reused with the same ID. This does not mean that duplication prevention is applied to the entire Draft shape.
16-6. Check Processing Results and Formula Calculations
- Check the application results in Revit and save the RVT.
- Export DraftCreate a new GLZ containing properties.
- Open the new GLZ in Draft, select the target object, and Open Revit parameters / requestsopen again.
- Processing records received back from Revitof Application completed / RejectedCheck the reason and time.
- After checking the updated shapes and values, inspect the dimension markings and annotations, and recompile the necessary quantities.
The example Counter reflects a depth of approximately 558 mm, and a length of approximately 1,141.4 mmin the new layout. The individual values of the original Counter used as a reference have been retained. Long decimal displays on the screen may appear during unit conversion, so read the values according to the allowable precision.
The above formula screen shows the sofa type before changes. This family calculates the total seat width as , and the width of one seat as width - 2 × arm depth. The result of a sample applied in Revit with a width of 2,558.4 mm was a total seat width of Total Seat Room / Seat Count, 3 seats, and approximately 2,358.4 mmper seat. Values are calculated by Revit according to formulas and are not directly modified in Draft’s input window. 786.1333 mmHost
16-7. Inspecting Door·Window Host Scope and Responding to Rejections
HostIt is a placement criterion like a wall that holds doors and windows. Even if the door height becomes larger than the wall, Revit does not always display an error, so the Importer additionally checks whether the opening exceeds the wall's length, bottom, or top by reading the wall range before the change. It uses the default width and height and the larger value among approximate opening dimensions, with a tolerance of 1 mm for the check.
Type requests also check the placement of the same type that is not in GLZ. If even a single placement does not meet the conditions, all field changes of that request are reverted and rejected.Other normal requests can be processed separately, so check the reasons for each item in the result window.
Excessive request: 2,133.6 → 12,133.6 mm → Rejected due to exceeding host wall range, original value retained.Original value retained.
Normal request: 2,133.6 → 2,083.6 mm → Applied.
Restore request: 2,083.6 → 2,133.6 mm → AppliedThe value and processing record were also checked in the new GLZ after saving and reopening the RVT.
| Guidance / Situation | Action |
|---|---|
| Exceeding host wall range | Check the doors, windows, and walls in the result and adjust height, width, and placement height. If multiple placements use the same type, also check the placement with the greatest constraint. |
| Cannot automatically verify host range | Automatic changes are deferred for curved, sloped, curtain, stacked walls, walls with bottom attachments or profile edits, curved edge boundaries, non-wall hosts, or insufficient reference dimensions. These are reviewed directly in Revit. |
| Requested values are not maintained due to formulas/constraints | Check conditions such as linked head height and sill height. Rewrite in one request by changing input values that affect it. |
| Read-only | Do not directly modify the value; check the editable parameters that determine that value. |
| Revit value·original location·type·level changes | Export the latest Revit model back to GLZ to create a new request. Do not overwrite current values with an old request. |
| Revit internal errors·warning dialogs | Read and resolve or cancel the Revit error contents. If regeneration fails, the entire import may be canceled, and not all warnings are automatically rejected. |
This check verifies the wall extent of openings defined by default dimensions. It does not inspect all irregular voids, overlapping shapes, or adjacent opening collisions. Straight vertical default walls attached at the top are also only checked if their side boundaries can be read.
16-8. Sample Round-Trip Results and Version Range
2026-09-21, copy of Revit 2026.4 basic_sample3Case verified here. Figure 7 of this section is the actual verification screen saved then, and it is included with explanations in the 2026-09-30 manual revision.
| Case | As checked |
|---|---|
| Three new families | Counter, chair, and microwave created newly. Existing 487 family metadata preserved, adding 3 new ones for a total of 490 confirmed. |
| Six parameter requests | Reflecting counter depth·length, chair length·height, microwave type width, sofa type width, sliding door width, single-flush door width. |
| Formula and rejection | Checked 3 rejections: sofa dependent formula calculation, conflicting window height requests, and read-only direct changes. |
| Final host check | Excessive door height rejected, normal height changed and restored, after saving, closing, and reopening the RVT, and re-exporting GLZ, values and processing records were checked in Draft. |
Actual execution verification is limited to the above version and sample families. Builds for Revit 2019~2026 were checked, but actual execution for 2019~2025 and all family-host combinations were not verified. Check round-trip results first on a project copy with the Addin suitable for your version.
16-9. Importing Draft geometry - Wall, Door, Window, Grid (2026-10-09)
Windsoft → Draft import brings in geometry drawn or recognized in Draft along with family requests. Walls become real Walls, doors and windows are hosted families, others go in as DirectShape. Changes in the 2026-10-09 Exporter (2026 DLL) are as follows.
| Items | Import method |

| Levels | Each wall/curved wall is placed at the highest level below its height. Doors and windows follow the level of their host wall. They no longer sit on the bottom level with a large offset like before. |
| Door/Window dimensions | If the width/height of a uniform type differs from the drawing by more than 1 cm, a type copy such as "Glazir 900x2100" is created to match. The original type does not change. Types whose dimensions are tied by formulas use the original type. |
| When the family does not exist | If there is no door or window family in the project, it searches for the door or window .rfa in the Revit library path and loads it. If it is not in the library either, the opening is left as a failure and a panel is inserted instead. |
| Opening method | Openings recognized as sliding or revolving doors prioritize families with the words sliding, swing, or revolving in their name. |
| Grid line | Draft centerlines are set as Revit grids. If the same name already exists, it is attached like "A (Draft)". |
| Curved Walls | Recognized curved walls become real Walls along the centerline arc. If it fails, they are inserted as shapes. |
| Symmetrical arrangement copy | Draft symmetrical family arrangements (plan mirror) are rotated and then mirrored in place. |
| Wall type | The type name of the drawn wall remains in the Revit wall annotation. |
Troubleshooting and Quick Reference
Items to check first when blocked
| Symptoms | Items to check first |
|---|---|
| The tool is gray | Check whether a new drawing was created or a file is open, and whether a 3D-only tool was selected in a 2D view. |
| Cannot enter numbers | Activate the tool and specify the first point or the editing target for input to be enabled. Use units appropriate for length, angle, and scale. |
| Cannot select objects | Check individual locks, parent object locks, and layer locks. |
| Model is not visible | Check in the order of View entire drawing → Show layers → Unisolate → Unsection → View direction. |
| The size is 1,000 times different. | Check the original unit and import unit, and measure the known length with a ruler. |
| The shape was changed but the dimensions remain the same. | Dimensions are static notations. Inspect the existing notation and rewrite it if necessary. |
| Volume is not displayed. | Check whether it is a closed solid and the unmeasured count. Plates or open meshes may not be able to calculate volume. |
| Sharing/server functions are disabled. | Check login, subscription plan, file server, and team-based server settings. |
| Conflicted with someone else’s changes. | First save your GLZ and the guided backup, then check the server master copy. |
| Failed to calculate shape. | Check if the target shape is supported. After a Worker error, the next request starts on a new Worker and the request has a 120-second limit. After confirming whether the failed computation applies, retry. |
| No Revit parameter information. | Re-export the GLZ with properties using the latest Exporter and select the target family. Preparation procedure. |
| Saved the request but the shape remains the same. | Waiting for application. The shape and quantity are updated only after reflecting the GLZ in Revit and opening the newly exported GLZ. Confirm results. |
| Door/window requests were rejected due to host scope. | Check other layouts of the same type with the wall and opening dimensions displayed in the result. Hosts that cannot be read are reviewed directly in Revit. Response by rejection |
| Cannot save because of hidden or deleted layouts | If there are pending parameter requests for the new layout, restore the layout or cancel the requests. New layout guide |
Frequently Used Operations
| Keys / Operations | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z | Undo / Redo |
| Esc | Cancel input/progress operation or exit tool. Behavior varies depending on the current step. |
| Shift+Click | Add selection in move tool |
| Ctrl+Drag | Copy in move tool |
| Delete | Delete selected edit target. If focus is in the input box, it edits text. |
| Alt+Drag / Alt+Right-Drag | Rotate / Pan |
| 1~6 (Redline) | Line / Arrow / Rectangle / Text / Cloud / Highlighter |
| Status bar | Guidance on valid input and operations for the current tool |
Work Completion Check
- Confirmed the GLZ save location and file name.
- Checked dimensions, annotations, and quantities after modifying shapes.
- Confirmed that the shared link is the latest revision.
- Checked if there are remaining notifications about server sync failure or conflicts.
