Guide to Querydog for Those Considering Alternatives to Navicat and DBeaver

Are you managing Oracle business queries, MySQL·MariaDB service data, and PostgreSQL analytical data across multiple tools? Querydog is a database management program on Windows that allows you to connect to multiple databases, write SQL, check results, manage schemas, and copy data.

How to choose an alternative to Navicat or DBeaver?

When switching familiar tools, it is better to check based on daily tasks rather than the product name. When considering adopting Querydog, check the following items on actual databases.

This page introduces the workflow of Querydog. It is not a comparison chart evaluating the price or functionality superiority of Navicat or DBeaver. Data transfer time can be checked with a real measurement comparison of 6.38 million rows in MariaDB.along with the measurement conditions.

Supported databases and usage examples

Oracle SQL editing and data management

Connect to Oracle to run business SQL and check table structures and query results. For PL/SQL and procedure-related functions, please check the operation scope in the user manual.

MariaDB management tools

Check tables and data in MariaDB and write SQL. You can use data copying and schema comparison to look at differences between environments.

MySQL SQL client

Execute MySQL queries and check result data. Review the workflow needed for service data management, including table management and Excel/CSV import and export.

PostgreSQL management and SQL editing

Connect to PostgreSQL to work with SQL and table data. You can review necessary tasks from schema checking to data copying with other databases.

SQL Server / MSSQL

Supports connection to Microsoft SQL Server. You can manage along with other database connections while performing SQL writing and result checking.

Check SQLite data

Open the SQLite database to view tables and data. The support range differs from server-based DBs, and procedure tracing and the actual execution mode of execution plans are excluded in SQLite.

SQL syntax, permissions, object types, and server versions differ for each DB, so not all functions are applied in the same way. Check the required connection environment and functions before implementation.

From SQL query to data copy verification

  1. Preparing connection: Select the target DB type and set up the connection information and account to use.
  2. Viewing and editing: Write SQL and check the execution results. Verify the target and conditions first for modifying queries.
  3. Checking structure: Inspect tables, columns, and relationships, and if there is a DB to compare, check the schema differences.
  4. Copying and verification: Check the source and target tables and data type conversions, then copy and review the verification report.
  5. Repeated execution: Set the schedule necessary for verified backup and transfer tasks.

Even when moving data from Oracle to PostgreSQL or from MySQL to MariaDB, you must check the differences in SQL syntax and data types. Transferring table data and the entire DB logic, including procedures and functions, is a separate scope.

If the source connection is lost

Check the partial transfer and unprocessed tables in the transfer results, and correct the causes of source connection and save failures. Tables with matching PK/UNIQUE keys can recheck missing rows through synchronization. Tables without keys are blocked from synchronization, and recreation may empty existing data at the target. Transfer retry procedurePlease check.

Question about introducing Querydog

Can connection settings from Navicat or DBeaver be imported as is?

This guide does not guarantee the ability to directly import connection setting files from other tools. Please set up the target DB connection in Querydog and verify the connection.

Will the same result appear with existing SQL files?

You need to check based on the same DB, account, and execution conditions. If the DB type changes, SQL syntax and functions may differ, so review the queries and results.

Can Querydog be run on a mobile phone?

Querydog is a program for Windows 10/11 64-bit. This guide and product introduction can also be read on a mobile phone.
