Web Drawing and BIM Usage Guide for SketchUp Users and Revit Workers
The tasks of creating architectural models, showing models to others, and editing drawings require different tools. Check how Glazir can be utilized based on the design environment you are familiar with.
When reviewing SketchUp alternatives: compare based on the tasks you need
If you are a SketchUp user, first check the workflow for creating and modifying shapes, entering dimensions, and saving and reusing files in web drawing tools. Glazir Draft is a tool for handling 2D and 3D drawings in the browser.
- Drawing Creation: Check the user manual for tasks using lines and faces, precise input, snap, and layers.
- Shape Editing: Verify whether necessary shape tools such as extrusion and Boolean apply to your work objects.
- Saving and Delivery: Confirm whether the GLZ saving method and sharing workflow meet your project's deliverable requirements.
Glazir Draft is not presented as a product that replaces all SketchUp functions. Tasks requiring direct SKP import/export or SketchUp extension compatibility need to be checked separately.

Procedure for Sharing Revit Models in a Web Viewer
- Preparation in Revit: Check the 3D view and model to be shared.
- Exporting with an Exporter: Use Glazir Exporter to export glTF models and related data for web use. Depending on the export options, materials, textures, and element properties will be included in the output.
- Verifying in the Viewer: Open the exported model in Glazir Viewer and check the geometry and properties. Make sure that the necessary objects are included in the results before sharing.
Glazir Exporter is Glazir Agenta Revit plugin included in the package. It differs from the method where the original RVT is directly interpreted by the web viewer.
To link Revit families, parameters, and Draft editing:
The Draft user guide explains from opening a GLZ with Revit-linked information, placing families and dimension requests, to saving GLZ for delivery to Revit. Changes to the geometry visible on the web and the original Revit objects are not the same operations, so you should distinguish between supported requests and target objects.
- Check if the GLZ file contains Revit-linked information.
- Verify the family type, whether it has a host, and the scope to apply to the entire type or individual objects.
- Save supported change requests and verify the results in Revit.

Questions on file compatibility and tool selection
Can I open a SketchUp SKP file directly?
This guide does not provide support for directly opening SKP files. If you need to edit the original SKP as it is, please inquire about the file format and required tasks before introduction.
Can someone who doesn’t have Revit check the model?
Models exported by the creator from Revit using the Exporter can be checked by the recipient through the web viewer. Editing the original RVT and viewing the converted model are separate.
Which Glazir product should I look at first?
For web drawing editing, start with Draft; for checking exported models, use Viewer; and for Revit export and workflow connection, check the Exporter and Pilot guides in Agent.
